Today we’d like to introduce you to Adrian and Jenny Park.
Adrian and Jenny, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Our story starts 10 years ago with my late husband, Adrian Park, and his passion for men’s suits. Together, we launched our first store in Wicker Park. Since we both had majored in the creative field; we were able to discuss the business together. Adrian worked very hard with clients ranging from professional athletes, established businessmen, to locals. Under an apprenticeship, I also learned the process of men’s suits.
Unfortunately, last year Adrian had suddenly passed away. I did not want to stop our business. I decided to keep Adrian Park Custom open. Each and every day that passes; I wish to honor him and hope to continue his legacy.
He is infinitely remembered as a loving father, husband, and friend.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Like in all industries, client management is probably the trickiest aspect. Our services are 1 on 1; so sometimes it can be a little hectic when other guests come in. There are many details to go over and consider.
We want to provide our insight while being tactful. Due to the many different personalities we may meet; it can be a sensitive conversation sometimes.
Ultimately, we just want to make sure everyone is happy and we try our best to adjust to our clients’ needs and wants, in a balanced way.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Adrian Park Custom – what should we know?
The market for men custom suits has been actively growing over the past couple of years. Nowadays, there are many different sites that one can find to make suits for very cheap.
I would not compare us to a cheap OEM company; as we have employed tailors overseas who have at least 30 years of experience in our industry. With this, we can individually handle our clients’ needs. We really emphasize on customer care.
Not only do we cater to just men, but we also can make suits for women as well.
It also does not end here; our shop has a talented in house tailor who has experience handling high end Italian suits. So we offer alteration services in addition to custom clothing. Customers will bring in their custom made items to get tailored because not many stores offer that service. We work with our clients and try our best to ensure their satisfaction. Because of this, we have many long term clients that also refer us to friends, family, etc.
Our most recent proud moment is a long time female client of ours wearing one of our suits, and was approached by actress, Viola Davis, from popular TV show: “How to Get Away with Murder”. She complimented our client on how well the suit looked. We have done work for both current and retired professional athletes. We take in every size and shape; and can make almost any kind of look that a client may want.
