Today we’d like to introduce you to Megan Bach.
Megan, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I started in the makeup industry ten years ago as a freelance artist. I began working with photographers to build a portfolio and from there, I started to get offered paid jobs for different styled photo shoots. I dove into every area of the industry that I could, including tv/film, fashion shows, commercial work, and bridal. My first job with a wedding party was when I fell in love with brides and everything wedding-related! And I never looked back. I moved from the freelance world to build a bridal business in 2014 when I launched Lips & Lashes Bridal. Since then, I have built a brand that truly speaks for itself. I have worked with countless bridal parties traveling all over the Chicago area. This summer, I opened a luxury bridal beauty studio in Glen Ellyn. I wanted to give my brides a place to come to get ready on their big day. My hope is to continue to expand my team of artists and grow the company more each year.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s been a long journey to get to where I am today. It took a lot to find my niche in the beauty industry, but I can finally say I am exactly where I am supposed to be. My advice to any young women starting out is to try everything. Take jobs that you don’t want or that scare you because you never know where they may lead. I never imagined I’d be working with brides. I always thought that a wedding was too much pressure, but I am so glad I said yes to that first bridal client because it took me to where I am today.
Please tell us about Lips & Lashes Bridal.
I specialize in bridal makeup and updos. I am most proud of my newest venture which is my new studio. I have always dreamed of opening my own space and after ten years of hard work, I was finally able to make my dream a reality. My studio is a one-of-a-kind, luxury bridal beauty studio. There aren’t any spaces like it and I am very proud to have imagined, created, and turned it into a real dream come true. Our bridal parties can come to our studio for their exclusive wedding day beauty, complete with a beverage bar, coffee nook, fitting rooms, and 4 makeup and hair stations.
Were there people and/or experiences you had in your childhood that you feel laid the foundation for your success?
I come from a very strong family background. I am very close with all of my siblings and we have an incredible support system through each other and our parents. My mom has taught us to have good morals and showed us what it means to have a good work ethic, and that has helped to pave the way for my success. I can count on her for anything. Each of my family members would be there to support me at any time of the day or night and knowing that definitely helps when you dive head first into your dreams.
