Life and Work with Letesha Renee

Today we’d like to introduce you to Letesha Renee.

Letesha, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Ever since I was a kid, I’ve never wanted to be or do anything else but a fashion designer except being a superhero. Well, I guess I kind of am a Super Hero of fashion, or so I’d like to think so. I guess I’m living both dreams! My grandmother taught me how to sew at the age of seven. She was my favorite person ever. I started ETB in 2015 with the inspiration of my Nana in mind. She exuded everything I want to present to the world through my brand. She is and will always be my muse. Before starting my brand, I worked as a visual merchandiser and then dabbled a bit with styling to keep myself relevant in a sense while I figured out my next move. My brand was always the goal! It has always been very important to me to have something to offer the city that I love. I am a very emotional and passionate human by nature. I wanted to create something meaningful and relatable to others. It was important to me as a creative, but most importantly, a designer. Each collection I design has personal meaning and draws inspiration from my mood in Chicago. Each piece is designed with the thought of comfort in mind. ETB is functional, versatile and made for everyone.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Starting your own business is never easy. Being an independent designer in Chicago can be difficult when it comes to resources/production. I design and produce almost every aspect of my collections. My advice for women who are just starting their journey is to believe in yourself and know that if someone tells you no, there is always another way to get it done. Nobody can stop you from doing anything only you can do that.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Eugene Taylor Brand – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
ETB is a unisex streetwear-inspired brand. We are known for telling a story through clothing. Our mission is to create a profitable, honest, global fashion community that celebrates the diversity and creativity of fashion culture.

Who have you been inspired by?
My grandmother, Diana Ross, Minnie Ripperton. I love confident, graceful, passionate women who are true to themselves. And of course, their sense of style.
