Meet Valorie Kersh of She’s A Lady Boutique in Dolton

Today we’d like to introduce you to Valorie Kersh.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Valorie. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
As I am grateful for the opportunity to have this business; this is actually my second business, my primary business is inclusive of traveling the world and helping others do the same. Most women, if they’re anything like me, never have anything to wear when it’s vacation time, date night, brunch outings, etc. We just feel that we have to have something new lol. So I decided to start my own online ladies boutique catering to ladies that want that unique appearance every time they dress themselves day/night. I carefully select stylish pieces from different parts of the world and sell them online or if someone lives local, pickup/delivery is available. I didn’t borrow money or take out any loans, I used money from my personal account and invested $1000 to start. I’m not new to the network marketing industry, so I was already aware that I’d have to build my business from the ground up and make/keep positive connections with people. My pieces are priced to be affordable to every lady, regular and plus size. In a few days, it’ll be officially 6 months since I started this business and while things didn’t take off fast in the beginning, these last few months have been good and I’m looking forward to great!

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Some of the struggles I’ve faced since opening my business has been learning what distributors to purchase items from, how to price to sell, and developing a “target market.” These challenges occurred in the beginning stages of my business because I wanted quality (not cheap looking) pieces, not price gauge just to make profit, and be sure that the ladies that shop with me can be assured that it’s a good look for them. I’ve adjusted pretty well and didn’t fold/break when pressure was applied. It’s a challenge mentally to assure and reassure yourself that you’ve made the right decision, but I believe that if I don’t believe in me, then how can I ask/expect anyone else too?

She’s A Lady Boutique – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
She’s A Lady Boutique offers quality, stylish, and affordable pieces in ladies apparel. I am the only owner, therefore I control the merchandise, spending, and everything else in between. I feel that because I am very personable, that sets me apart from the traditional brick and mortar companies that have employees that are not the most “service” oriented. I take my time to listen to ladies concerns such as if it looks right, appropriateness of the attire pertaining to its destination, and my return/exchange policy is simple! I am proud to display that personal/human touch during a time when everything seems instant and people display little to no patience for each other.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success to me is happiness. When you give people what they want and love, it will be returned to you. Of course the money is there, after all it is a business, but just as much as bad news travels, so does good news. A reference, customer retention, and new business opportunities are all successful points to me.
