Meet Rebecca Pesche of Scout & Molly’s in Deerfield

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rebecca Pesche.

Rebecca, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I’ve been a Deerfield resident for eight years, working as a residential real estate broker and raising three kids with my husband. I came across a Scout & Molly’s store while visiting Ohio and I couldn’t help but think that Deerfield could use a great little boutique like this. The more I thought about it, the more I thought – why not me? A short but hectic year later, Scout & Molly’s Deerfield Square opened its doors.

My goal is for Scout & Molly’s to be a welcoming and friendly store for women to shop, get styling advice, and gather for girls’ nights out. I also strongly believe in giving back to the community and promoting small businesses in Deerfield. (Several of the store’s jewelry lines are from local designers.)

Has it been a smooth road?
It’s been challenging to find balance – between a career in real estate, launching a new business, being present for my family, and still taking time out to recharge my batteries. It’s a constant state of juggling, but I’ve learned to ask for help, lean on my incredibly supportive friends and family, and not sweat the small stuff.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Scout & Molly’s – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
What I loved about the Scout & Molly’s brand is the idea that the store experience is like shopping in your best friend’s closet. It’s a refreshing change from other retail options and it really speaks to the need for human connection in an otherwise digital world. Scout & Molly’s is a place to shop, of course, but it’s a place in the community to gather and socialize and reconnect, too.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
Chicago is big on heart. Friends, neighbors, everyone truly cares about the well-being of others. It’s a characteristic of the Midwest that makes it such a great place to live and raise a family. But, I’d love for Mother Nature to give us a pass on the sub-zero temperatures.
