Meet Mason Cole of Cole Sadkin in The Loop

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mason Cole.

Mason, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I am the co-founder of the business law firm Cole Sadkin. I received my Juris Doctor from Georgetown University Law Center. I have always possessed a strong interest in helping businesses resolve their needs, and that is one of the principal reasons why I co-founded Cole Sadkin during the Great Recession. As companies across America were struggling, small businesses in particular did not have the operating budget to afford large legal firms. This created a niche opportunity for small law firms to step in to mid-level and larger companies, providing the services previously offered by larger law firms with significantly more resources. Cole Sadkin began representing small- and medium-sized businesses, particularly those seeking angel investors.

Has it been a smooth road?
The largest challenge faced by any small business is managing staff. With a current staff of seven, even one employee leaving the company can have a drastic effect on the day-to-day operations. It’s difficult to find great employees, but it’s even more challenging to identify great employees who are thrilled to work at a small company.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
Cole Sadkin provides legal counsel to small businesses who are attempting to grow quickly. We provide employment, intellectual property and corporate transaction and litigation services. Our target market has also adapted to include representing investors who are trying to navigate smart investment decisions. We specialize in providing a full breadth of legal solutions that are affordable to small- and mid-sized businesses.

What are you most proud of as a company? What sets you apart from others? If you had to start over, what would you have done differently?
I am most proud of the relationships we have built with business owners. Most of our clients are working very hard to provide for their families, and we have an opportunity to assist them in achieving their goals. Helping my clients succeed provides me with a lot of satisfaction.

I would seek out more mentors and colleagues who are in the same trenches as me. Too often small business owners are afraid to ask for help, even though we are all experiencing similar struggles. Opening up to ask for assistance is the greatest way to build strong, lifelong relationships.
