Meet Marge Bellisario of Forest View Lounge

Today we’d like to introduce you to Marge Bellisario.

Marge, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
We are a small, friendly, woman owned and operated bar and grill, serving delicious comfort food for almost two decades. People crave the oozing Volcano Burgers that are stuffed full of cheese and made as spicy hot as you can stand. We also have a selection of nationally known beers and our own specialty mixed drinks.

Everyone is welcome at The View!

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Marge, the owner, was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2016, but with her usual unsinkable optimism she defeated the cancer. With a little help from her friends, the business remained open and she worked every day throughout her chemo treatments.

An earlier disaster, however, almost devastated the business and the community when in 2013 the entire suburb of Forest View had a historical flood. Forest View Lounge, although spared from flooding, was left very much on an island without oars. The community bravely rebuilt, the water finally receded, Harlem Avenue was reopened and customers flowed back into The View.

Forest View Lounge – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
The economy is always an unknown, but as customers age out of the bar scene, The View has continued to satisfy the growing need for good home cooked menu items while providing a comfortable meeting place, especially for women.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Marge is very proud to be a part of the growing sorority of women owned and operated small businesses.

I am a big fan of the Lounge and stop in whenever I am in the neighborhood! Whether just for lunch or a evening to watch a game and be around fun people. Just a happy and accepting place for me and my friends when we plan a night out. So what are you waiting for?….GO!
