Meet Iryna Serembytsky, M.D. of Westeros Family Practice

Today we’d like to introduce you to Iryna Serembytsky, M.D.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Iryna. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I earned my medical degree from a Medical University in Ukraine. I went on to complete my Family Medicine residency at Saints Mary and Elizabeth Medical Center in Chicago.

During the residency, I had a chance to rotate in private offices and this was when I started to have the idea about creating my own practice and how I would like to run it.

After the residency, I was employed by a big medical group and worked with them for 2 years, and I am grateful for all the experience I gained.

On 10/17/16 we opened the doors of our private practice with a unique name “Westeros Family Practice” (this may give an idea what our favorite show is), and now working hard to fulfill this dream. Our office staff consists of a Family Medicine doctor Iryna Serembytsky, M.D. and an office manager Rosio Rea, who also works as a receptionist who attends to all the phone calls, schedules appointment, welcomes and registers patients. As you can see we have a minimum staff that makes it easier for the working process and for communication between a patient and a provider – our patients have an opportunity to personally talk to a doctor when needed without delays.

Our office staff is united by the same idea of creating an ideal place where each of us loves coming to every day, as well as the place that makes our patients feel comfortable.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Like with any new business it was not a smooth road, there was a lot of research and a lot of learning done in a field that I was not familiar with. Being employed by the big medical group in the past, we had all the support we needed and all I had to worry about was the Medicine part.

Opening a new business I had to learn finances, IT (I can proudly say that I created our webpage and manage it monthly), contract negotiations, revenue cycle management, business promotion, facility management, and many other things.

But at the end you become wiser and have a chance to put your imprint on the practice.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Westeros Family Practice – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
We are a full-service family practice that is committed to the person regardless of age, gender, illness, or organ system.

We provide a full scope of services such as Annual adult and well child exams; well women exams including gynecologic examination; Employment, sports, camp, and school physicals; Pre-operative Clearance; Adult and Pediatric Immunizations; Same day appointments for acute care; Treatment of new and chronic conditions ( including Diabetes, Hypertension, Asthma, etc). In addition to regular office visits, we offer a variety of in-office procedures including: skin tag, mole, and wart removal, joint injections/aspirations, electrocardiogram. We are continuously working on expanding the range of services we provide.

We have created a practice that we believe in and would choose for our own family members. We have the ability to run a practice with the atmosphere and quality of services we’d like to provide patients with, such as offering a more relaxed, laid-back, family-oriented environment. I believe this is the reason patients are choosing us as they enjoy being able to see the same physician, and front desk staff for follow-up visits.

We are affiliated with the MacNeal hospital and accept most public and private insurance plans. We also offer special pricing for cash-paying patients for most procedures.

In our office we speak English, Spanish, Ukrainian and Russian.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
As with any new business, our plan is to expand our practice and to be able to provide an excellent care to our community without changing the way how we practice. Our goal is to be a more patient oriented practice.
