Today we’d like to introduce you to George Buruian.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I came to this country in 2002 from Romania. I only had $600 in my pocket and could not speak any English. Though, I remained positive. I had odd jobs to accumulate more money. I worked construction, a bouncer at a club, and a martial arts instructor. In 2007, I had tried to open up my own school, though with the economic crash shortly after, I was not successful. So, I went back to teaching martial art classes. Finally in 2015 we opened up a world class state of the art training facility in Northbrook, where people of all ages think of this as their second home.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
When I tried to open up a school in 2007 and was unfortunate not to succeed, I kept trying. Throughout my journey I have always kept a positive mind and strong work ethic. This has led me to my triumph today.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Alpha Krav Maga Compound – what should we know?
We are the National Training Center for Alpha Krav Maga International. We are teaching self-defense, fitness, and fighting, Law Enforcement and kid’s classes.
We have world class instructors in a safe and friendly environment. When you walk through our doors you get more than just a workout and learning life saving techniques. You gain a family.

My beautiful wife Diana Azrikam has been my biggest supporter throughout my adventure.
Aside from my wife, Diana Azrikam, I have a huge support group of my friends, family and students. They always believed in me to create a wonderful environment to learn Krav Maga and change lives.
