Today we’d like to introduce you to Amy Mayer.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I previously owned two companies, ExpressDrop and LuxuryDrop, selling a myriad of items for individual sellers on eBay as well are designer overstock supplied by retailers. We operated out of three locations in Chicagoland. Although after five years I closed these businesses I remained interested in the secondary marketplace for luxury items made accessible by any number of outlets online. Additionally the idea that items in excellent condition were being discarded simply because people didn’t realize they could be reused is something I am very passionate about. These things together led me to create Little Green Kitchens, bringing together buyers looking to update their homes and save both money and the environment with sellers looking to increase their own renovations budgets and avoid adding their construction waste to the thousands of tons placed in landfills each year.
Has it been a smooth road?
The reception of Little Green Kitchens to individual re-modelers, real estate and construction professionals has been outstanding. The largest hurdle is education simply because the majority of industry people and clients still aren’t aware that a service like this exits.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Little Green Kitchens – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
We specialize in the brokerage of complete luxury kitchens (cabinets, appliances, counter tops, plumbing fixtures, etc.). We are the only company operating in the Midwest with this specialty.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
Chicago has been my home for nearly 15 years and I love the energy and the constant motion of our city. This forward momentum has helped the Chicago community to understand and appreciate Little Green Kitchens as a new and exciting concept.
