Today we’d like to introduce you to Mike and Kristin Williams.
Mike and Kristin, please share your story with us.
We’ve been doing weddings since college! It started out as a pretty lucrative side hustle but after graduation, we had some decisions to make. Kristin and I sat down and thought, we love being a part of one of the best days of a couple’s life so it wasn’t a hard decision to go full time!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Starting your own business is not for the faint of heart but it is a beautiful journey. One of the struggles we’ve had was starting in college but only doing it part-time. Because we weren’t able to be fully focused on the business we had to choose, be creative or be business-minded. We chose to be creative which definitely shows in our work but when we went full time we had to put in a ton of work to actually build a brand. It’s been super rewarding to finally have not only our work speak volumes but our brand actually reflects that as well.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Trailhead Creative story. Tell us more about the business.
Trailhead Creative is a wedding photo & video company in Chicago. Our big thing is making a great connection with our couples. We think having that connection makes for a super fun time and amazing photos at the end of the day. We’re not the type of people that just show up to your wedding, take some pictures and video and bounce. We love helping our couples from the moment they book to when their photos are delivered, create a day that is relaxing, fun and will produce the best representation of them and their wedding day! And most of all we just like to have a blast alongside you!
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
There have definitely been things along the way that have directed our path. I’m not sure how much we believe in luck but we do believe in opportunity. And I think that’s what makes a great entrepreneur, seeing a possibility and grabbing those opportunities – whether it’s a business relationship, a particular job or a niche.
