Today we’d like to introduce you to Arvind Singh.
Arvind, please share your story with us.
We founded Utopia back in 2003 as a data quality and services/consulting firm with no outside funding. Leaving well-paying corporate jobs to start your own company, with no financial backing and young families, was a big personal risk but we saw tremendous opportunity to bring value to the market because of the unique way we approached data. There was no end-to-end solution for fixing and sustaining data quality in large organizations and the main “data conversation” was around storage, databases and data centers. Our team realized that the real conversations going on behind closed doors at the executive level were around data quality and long-term data strategy to optimize decision making using trusted analytics. Data stakeholders needed a way to clean up their legacy data and migrate it, but also develop a strategy to sustain its quality for the entire lifecycle.
This recognition helped shape Utopia’s mission which is still in place today – to help customers recognize the true value of their data assets and leverage them for better decision-making. During more difficult years, we doubled-down instead of walking away – investing heavily into IP and software development to support our successful services and consulting business. Over the last 15 years, we’ve evolved into an end-to-end enterprise data management solutions company and one of SAP’s largest software development partners for 3rd Party Solutions around the world. None of that would be possible without the support and trust of our customers, partners, and employees who see that perfect data really is perfectly possible.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
I believe that true innovation and success happens when we push ourselves beyond the “good enough.” 80% effort may get you through life but is not good enough to differentiate yourself and your organization. As a technology company, our business is constantly evolving, and the rapid change can create a lot of uncertainty on what the future holds and how to grow. We can’t be successful without the success of our customers, so I’ve made the commitment to our customers and also my own employees that Utopia will always be innovating and on the cutting edge of what’s possible while delivering best-in-class solutions.
