Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Jimmy Lopez.
Dr. Lopez, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Originally from California. My sister was born with a bad heart and has had 9 open heart surgeries. As much as our family was around hospitals and doctors, it was a natural environment and easy choice to want to be the people that helped my sister. The people were amazing, but I realized the system was broken. As much as I am thankful for emergency medicine and the opportunity it has given our family, it does nothing to prevent or teach people to become more proactive with their health. Being an athlete, I was always drawn to professions, classes and people that could help me perform at my best. In high school, I suffered an injury in which I sought chiropractic services. Once I heard the story of Chiropractic, the principles of which it was founded, there was no other profession which made more sense to me when caring for the human body. From that moment on, I was grounded in and surrounded myself with lifestyle management and chiropractic professionals.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Definitely not a smooth road. I moved away from all my family and friends when I was 21. I left California and moved to Iowa. The change of pace, personalities and environment took some getting used to. Upon graduation, I had not job and was only looking to learn from one person and management group at the time, Dr. Charles Majors and Teach the World about Chiropractic. When that fell through, a mentor, friend and brother Dr. Paul Stoetzel gave me an opportunity in Lemont and I found myself back in the Midwest.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Universal Wellness Source of Roscoe Village – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Universal Wellness Source offers chiropractic, lifestyle management and massage. Our focus is, “providing wellness and corrective care for healthier bodies.” We educate our patients and the community of what it takes to eat right, move right and think well. We are advocates for our patient’s health and are proponents of educating patients on how to create an overall fulfilling lifestyle through means such as: diet, exercise, stress management and postural hygiene. We look for the underlying causes of disease, discomfort and pain, as opposed to just treating the symptoms. Many seemingly unrelated symptoms often arise from imbalances in the spinal column, and we will be able to determine the root of the pain and create a personalized wellness plan to suit each patient’s individual needs. Under the supervision and care of our caring and skilled physicians, patients report higher functioning and energy in all areas of their lives. We are one big family here and focus on treating all of our patients the same way.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
Our goal is to make Chicagoland the healthiest community on the planet. We also have an affinity to supporting new Chiropractors coming out of school and educating them on what it takes to run a successful office. With these two long term goals, we expect to open more offices throughout the city and suburbs. Another exciting aspect is going more digital. Creating an online platform in which we can provide free health content, tips and advice on how to make our world a healthier place.
