Today we’d like to introduce you to Vincent Ho and Mun Wong.
Vincent and Mun, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
VinTech Systems, Inc. was established 12 years ago in Chinatown. It was only me and my father at that time. I had to go door to door sale, did all the installation and services, estimating and billing, etc. It was a tough start but it went pretty well. A year later, my girlfriend, Mun Wong, at that time finished her bachelor degree at University of Illinois. I asked her to stay and give me a hand. It was the beginning of our VinTech life.
Since then, we have been working and growing the business together every day.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I am sure every business must have been through a lot. In order to do great, sacrifice is a must. There’s not a smooth road. Especially for us, minority and English is not our first language. That’s why we started in Chinatown as we were familiar with the community. Interestingly, as we grew, most of our clients were not Chinese or Asians. It took us extra effort to proof them we are as good and even better than other companies. I would focus on the technical side of the business and Mun would handle all the admin office work. She would go networking and she was the only Asian and woman in the events. She was the only woman in the exam for the Private Alarm Contractor License. We are really rare in the security industry and we made it.

Our passion is to provide peace of mind solutions for our clients. We design and install electronic security systems for residential, commercial and industrial clients. Our specialties are security cameras, alarm systems and access control. What made us grow even without a sales team is definitely our customer service. Our clients returning and referral rates are very high.
We have a set of core values and we believe in what we do. My passion in technology and Mun’s passion in customer service set us apart from others.
For the past decade, we have done numerous of projects and what made me feel really proud recently is the security cameras projects for Chinatown. Finally, we can contribute back to the community where we started. We are very grateful for all the opportunities.
What were you like growing up?
I was an outgrowing kid with a great love of Judo. Being a police is my childhood dream that reflects the passion of what I am doing now.
