Today we’d like to introduce you to Jenna Bill.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Jenna. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I began dancing in the Northwest Suburbs of Chicago at the age of 3, finding my love and passion for dance at a young age. I continued my pre-professional training in the city of Chicago throughout high school, which focused my energy and technique. The Chicago dance scene is diverse and inspiring which encouraged me to follow my passion and attain a Bachelor of Fine Arts in dance from the University of Illinois.
While at college I was able to explore a dance scene different than that of the city of Chicago, broadening my artistry, technique and expression. During my junior year of college, I had the amazing opportunity to take a semester abroad in Paris, France to study both dance and French language extensively. Upon graduating college, I received my 200-hour yoga teacher training in Hatha Yoga and am currently working on a children’s yoga certification.
In addition to being the Owner and Artistic Director of Abandon Dance Co., I currently teach both dance and yoga around the Northwest Chicago Suburbs. I have taken my diverse background of education to create a versatile style of teaching, incorporating a variety of styles and techniques together. Teaching is my passion and dance is my medium. My goal is always to share what I have learned and cultivate the same passion I feel towards dance with my students!
Has it been a smooth road?
As with any great thing, you have to work for it. Teaching dance and communicating has always come naturally to me, but the business side of it is all new. Abandon Dance is in its first year so I am proud to have a strong team that gets along and it is patient with me as I figure things out. I look forward to seeing my company grow and dealing with any hurdles that might come along the way.

Abandon Dance is a competitive contemporary dance company specializing in contemporary, lyrical and jazz technique. By bringing unique styles of dance together onstage and cultivating an atmosphere of commitment, passion, and purpose each student will find growth in physicality and creativity within themselves.
ADC competes at both the regional and national level. We prioritize technique and artistry as well as the students’ own connection to mind and body through constant conscious exploration.
As this is our first year as a company, I am proud at the strong roots we have already established as a team and I look forward to what we can accomplish in the years to come!

I love the ever-expanding dance scene in our area. It allows us to compete in a way that it educates us and encourages us to be our personal best, always.
