Meet Elizabeth Nord of Elizabeth Nord Photography in River North

Today we’d like to introduce you to Elizabeth Nord.

Elizabeth, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I began my photography business in 2011 as I was getting my degree in economics at the University of Tennessee. Since then, I’ve moved my business 3 different times (from TN, to FL, and IL) and when I moved to Chicago in 2014, I became a full time wedding photographer.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
With any business, there will be bumps along the way. Struggle and failure is just a part of business…a part of life! I believe that the best lessons come from when I’ve failed or struggled, and there’s been many of those instances. Any entrepreneur would tell you the same! When I mentor other photographers, I try to encourage them and tell them that failure is inevitable so don’t be scared to try something new, because you never know what will happen. You may succeed… Or you may fail, but you’ll learn from your mistakes and come out stronger.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Elizabeth Nord Photography – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I own a wedding photography business called Elizabeth Nord Photography in downtown Chicago. I am an energetic, dedicated, and creative photographer that looks at every detail to make sure my couples look their absolute best. I do everything in my power to keep them stress-free and having fun throughout the wedding day (even if it’s not photography related!), which I think is one of the things that sets me a part from other businesses. Often times, brides are really stressed on the morning of the wedding day. I love when they tell me “YAY! Liz is here. I can breathe now.” or “You just have a way of making me smile and stop worrying about the small things.” They trust me completely and I love that my presence calms them. I consider my photography style to be modern, clean, and classic and a cross between editorial and photojournalistic. I love the semi-posed portraits that look like they could be in a magazine, but at the same time, photojournalistic shots are typically my favorite and most emotional photographs. I believe that there’s a time and place for each! My shooting style is hands on, but I also give you the ability to change it up if you feel like it. I won’t let you sit there with no idea what to do. I’ll direct you the entire time and give you actions to carry out to achieve the look and feel that I want to portray.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
Oh, yes! I am launching my brand new website this month that will include, not only galleries and my blog, but lots of free educational content for photographers! There will be a newsletter brides and photographers can sign up for so they can keep up to date on ENP news like upcoming workshops, mentoring opportunities, and new blog posts as well as receive weekly wedding tips. I’m also creating a bridal guide for my brides with information that will help them figure out what to wear to their engagement session, what details to bring on the wedding day, and so much more! Another exciting thing about my website is that people can purchase my top 9 favorite travel images through the shop. So many new things in the works. I can’t wait for it to launch!
