Today we’d like to introduce you to Bob McCaffrey and Joanne Cooney.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Corydon Converting is a privately held ISO 9001:2008 ‘hands-on’ owner-operated paper and film converting company. Established in 1986, the corporate office and plant occupy a 32,000 square foot facility in Aurora IL. The company also operates a 6500-square foot converting plant/warehouse in Oswego, IL.
With clients ranging from start-ups to Fortune 100 companies, customer responsiveness is the cornerstone of Corydon’s success.
Bob, owner of Corydon Converting Company, served for over three years in the U.S. Army working his way from Recruit to Infantry NCO (Sergeant E-5). The discipline instilled by the military prepared Bob to run Corydon Converting. According to Bob, “the communication and leadership skills that I learned in the Army helped me to be responsive to our customer needs. I am proud of my military service. It has had a life-long positive impact on me.” During his service, Bob qualified for the Airborne Ranger and received the Expert Infantryman’s Badge and Air Assault Badge.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Owning a small business always has its ups and downs-machines break, shipments get damaged, there are misunderstandings, you lose customers, you quote too low, customers are slow to pay, shipments are late (both incoming and outgoing), the economy changes, there is not enough time in the day, etc. One constant that helps with all struggles, is the quality of our people. Corydon has survived because of our people.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Corydon Converting Company – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
