Today we’d like to introduce you to Taylor Ogilvie.
Taylor, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I grew up in the Chicago suburbs and took frequent ski trips out west with my family and fell in love with everything skiing. When home in the suburbs I took frequent trips to Wilmot and other Midwest resorts to ski as well. When I graduated from High School I moved west to attend the University of Colorado Boulder and upon graduation, I moved to Vail. I worked in the Ski & Snowboard schools and worked my way up through management positions to become the General Manager of the Ski & Snowboard School in Lionshead in Vail.
In 2013 I took on the challenge of becoming the GM of Mt. Brighton in Michigan and led a 10 million dollar renovation of the facilities there. I became the GM of Wilmot in January of 2016 and led Wilmot through a 13 million dollar renovation that included the Chairlifts, Snowmaking, all Food and Beverage outlets and the Ski School. In August of 2017, I was promoted to Vice President of Urban Ski areas for Vail resorts and took on oversight of the operations at Mt. Brighton in Michigan and Afton Alps in Minnesota as well.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road has been immensely fulfilling and enjoyable but there are always challenges along the way. Things like weather, construction delays, and the economy keep me on my toes but I love the dynamic environment of the ski industry and thrive in an environment where we find solutions to challenges. Creating an incredible guest experience is always the end goal.

I personally am incredibly proud of the role I have played in the growth of our company through two acquisitions and subsequently remodels of ski areas in the Midwest. I think what sets us apart is our approach to the guest experience in resorts of all scales and sizes.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Many great memories of skiing in ski school at Beaver Creek, CO with my sister and cousins.
