So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Started at a Barbershop in Uptown back in the early 2000. Later went to work for a salon that one of the instructors had in Lincoln Park just basically helping it wasn’t till a friend who was working at an Aveda salon near came by told me they were hiring an assistant. So I decided to go for it interview and got the position the owner of the salon was very involved with the industry so that was a bonus because we got to do a lot of events photo shoots meet top hairdresser from all over and that just make me fall in love more with the industry. Finish the program in about a year and a half and by this point clients already felt comfortable with me finally got to get behind the chair after almost 7 yrs. there I decided to search for something else it was at Pivot Point training class that I was helping teach I met another salon owner who was opening up a salon in West Town after some years I left and was really wanting to do my own looking for booth rental I found this location. The previous owners had no idea of the beauty industry try to run it like and in-out chain but didn’t work. So they ask if I was interested in taking over so then in 2015 the seed of Natural Born was place and in 2017 with sweat tears and love we bloom.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
No it’s not an easy road but its all part of the process learning and pushing forward.
