Meet Trailblazer Cat Aldana

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cat Aldana.

Cat, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
When I graduated college from DePaul University with a degree in PR + Advertising and a minor in Graphic Design, I was completely burned out. I was in the Honors Program and I had every job and internship you can imagine. I was fully prepared to get a “real job,” but I just didn’t want to. While in school, I went to class, got straight A’s, paid my own bills/rent/tuition, AND partied hard and had the best social life – I had managed to “do it all” but I was tired… and most of all, uninspired.

I studied abroad in London my senior year and that’s when I would say I had “that moment” where I was like “F*** THIS.” Life does not have to be this way. I traveled a lot and saw how people all over the world lived so differently. There was no “right” or “wrong” way to live your life. I decided to come home and do things differently. I wanted to have fun, relax and not take life so seriously. I was such an overachieving, straight A perfectionist – I was so annoying haha. I tried to make everyone happy and I didn’t know who I was anymore. I decided I wanted to do something just for me. That something was yoga.

Now, here I am, 7 years later, running my own wellness company, EAT STRETCH NAP,™, and living that laid back, relaxed yoga lifestyle I dreamed of back in college. It’s been a long road to get here with a lot of self-doubt, criticism, and fear, but I couldn’t be more proud of the person I am today.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely has not been a smooth road. I would say the biggest struggles I’ve had were mostly internal – me not believing in myself and thinking I wasn’t good enough. I often found myself preventing my own success because of my own self-doubt and worry.

If I had one piece of advice to share with young women who are just starting on their entrepreneurial journey it’d be this:

You are legitimate. Your journey is real. Your story matters. You are doing the best you can. Don’t let “imposter syndrome” fool you. You ARE who you say you are. Own it.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about EAT STRETCH NAP™ – what should we know?
EAT STRETCH NAP™ shows you how to slow down, turn your mind off and not take life so seriously. We host retreats, events, and programs to help you feel less stressed, more focused and more inspired. Ultimately, EAT STRETCH NAP™ is all about joy and relaxation! We like to bring travel and mindfulness together so you can actually relax. Our wellness retreats are our most unique experiences! The next retreat is to Puerto Vallarta January 12-19, 2019.

Personally, I love helping entrepreneurs and business owners be more focused + productive so that they can spend LESS time working and MORE time relaxing and hanging out with their friends and family. As a business owner myself, I get how hard it is to focus sometimes and I love helping people really learn how to gain more energy and get things done in the fastest most efficient way possible. I offer a private online coaching program specifically for entrepreneurs to help them with this. I believe yoga, meditation + Ayurveda are the best tools for greater productivity + focus and I teach my clients my own unique method of how to use them.

Do you recommend any apps, books or podcasts that have been helpful to you?
I’m a book nerd, I love books! There are so many that have changed my life for the better. Some of my favs are The Untethered Soul, The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, Rest, Loving What Is, and The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up.

Basically, any book that teaches me how to slow down, be present and enjoy the moment – I love!
