Today we’d like to introduce you to Angela Shelton.
Angela, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I began my makeup journey in late 2016. I never really had an interest in it before then. One day, something sparked in me and I decided to give makeup a try. Me being the creative spirit that I am, I loved bold colors, so I kept practicing on how to use colorful palettes. It took studying the craft, practice and patience and time for me to see a difference from where I started. Even after I got the basics down, I still felt like I needed more. That’s when I began to study creative makeup looks and SFX. That is where my passion lies because it challenges me to push myself. I thank God for blessing me with this gift!
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Any advice I would give to young women starting this journey is to PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE. I know I keep saying that, but that is the only way to improve your skills and perfect the craft. This is a personal journey, so you can’t compare yourself to others. We all have a distinct uniqueness about ourselves that we just have to embrace. Enjoy the ride!
Alright – so let’s talk about your work. Tell us about Mzshel85 – what should we know?
I am a child of God, a wife and mother first. I own Trisnap Photography, so I just want to add makeup services to my business, to give my clients more well-rounded products. Kind of like a one-stop shop. Get your makeup and photos done all in one sitting.
At this moment, I am just practicing more on the creative aspect of makeup so that hopefully one day, I will be working on movie sets!
What’s the most important piece of advice you could give to a young woman just starting her career?
The most important piece of advice I would give a woman starting her career is to have a prayer and a plan. Plan out what you want to do and pray over that plan and your career.
