Meet Susan and Sarah Schwarting of The Center for Serenity in OakPark

Today we’d like to introduce you to Susan and Sarah Schwarting.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Susan: I’ve always had an interest in alternative therapies and had tried various energy modalities. None of them impressed me until I had my first Reiki treatment. It had such a profound effect on me I decided to pursue training to become a Reiki Practitioner. This led to further training and I became a Certified Reiki Master and Certified Meditation Instructor.

Sarah: Ever since high school I wanted to pursue a career in psychology and have my own practice. After completing my under grad studies in the field I pursued Masters in Developmental Psych and Social Work. My therapy is strength based and solution focused.

Susan: Since our work enhances each other we partnered up and started our business.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Probably the biggest struggle for any new business is marketing, getting the word out and knowing how best to spend your marketing $$.
