Meet Sonya Younan of Dream Events by Sonya in Glenview

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sonya Younan.

Sonya, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I started wedding planning as in intern for a company, and for family first and slowly added friends. It started out more of a hobby and part-time work. Once my kids grew a little older, I left my medical career and put my all into bringing my company to where it is today. It’s been 3 years of full time planning and growing leaps in bounds. I’m a complete perfectionist and very detail oriented. I love to craft and find ways to help my clients save money or bring their personality into their event.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I met many vendors in the industry that were very helpful and guided me in the right directions.

Dream Events by Sonya – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I am the proud owner of Dream Events by Sonya, providing wedding planning and coordination services to the Chicagoland Area.

I love that I get to develop a personal relationship with each client – I feel that it is truly the key to making each event a unique and special affair to remember. I’m a very detail-oriented person and won’t settle for anything less than perfection. This helps me focus on even the smallest aspects (that sometimes turn out to be the most important) when I’m helping you create the day of your dreams.

I have 6 years of experience in this business, and during that time I’ve grown many strong relationships and friendships with so many wonderful vendors, and it has truly been my genuine joy to work side-by-side with couples and their families during their most memorable occasions.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
When I started this company as a full-time planner 4 years ago, I set a goal of doing an Indian within 2 years of starting. I landed my first within 7 months of putting my all into the company. I have since planned many more and now have the honor of planning another wedding for the family of 1st Indian wedding I did.
