Meet Scott Holtz of North Branch Yoga in Skokie

Today we’d like to introduce you to Scott Holtz.

Scott, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
North Branch Yoga is an independent yoga studio located in downtown Skokie providing classes for men, women, and children of all ages and abilities.

Our goal is to add another dimension to the overall well-being of our community by way of yoga. Skokie is a unique place with a very diverse group of citizens. It is our hope that North Branch Yoga will help add to the lively atmosphere of downtown Skokie.

The idea for North Branch Yoga was born in the fall of 2014 when we organized yoga classes during the Skokie Farmer’s Market. Attendance was outstanding showed a need and love in our community for yoga. We then moved the classes to the stage at the Skokie Theatre for a month-long, Sunday morning run of classes. The seed was planted for North Branch Yoga. We knew we needed to find a permanent home for yoga in our community and North Branch Yoga became a reality. The studio opened its doors on May 4, 2015.

Has it been a smooth road?
The process of finding the space that fits a business plan was a challenge. We knew where we wanted to be. The only place we even considered was beautiful Downtown Skokie. Eventually, everything lined up and we were set to open.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
We do yoga classes for men, women, and children of all ages and abilities. It’s simple this way. We do close to 100 classes a month in the studio not counting workshops and special events.

In the summer, we do free classes on our Village Green during Skokie’s Farmers Market on Sunday mornings. We also do Beer+Yoga at a local pub. Winter brings on Small Business Saturday and we turn the studio into a gift shop with 12 artist/vendors. We host the meetings for the Downtown Skokie Alliance.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Downtown Skokie is a great place to open a business. Lots of residential growth in the next few years will bring more feet on the street and customers in the doors. We have a great comic book store, a candy shop, office supplies, flower shop, cigars, bikes, hardware, paint, groceries, produce, a deli, close to 20 places to eat, more places to get your hair cut and nails done than you can imagine, cleaners, tailors, drug stores, We even have a small theatre doing shows on a regular schedule.

One of the best libraries anywhere. A historic firehouse/museum and log cabin. Awesome events, free concerts and TONS of free parking. We even have a stop on the Yellow Line to make getting here easy.

Pricing:

  • $18 per class
  • $160 pack of ten classes
  • $160 monthly unlimited.
