Meet Sarah Miles Lange of Beloved Beauty in Northwest Suburbs

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah Miles Lange.

Sarah, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I have always had a creative mind, and I was partly raised in a beauty shop where my mom worked part time. I never doubted once that I would be a part of the beauty industry. During my high school years, I felt like I was always just waiting for time to go by until I was old enough to go to beauty school. However, I found myself surrounded by other girls that struggled with low self-esteem and couldn’t see their value that bothered me a lot! I started to dive into makeup, as I didn’t need a license to help others, and soon found myself giving makeovers to numerous fellow classmates. Following that dream, I attended beauty school as well as makeup classes in a Chicago. That education and dream turned into Beloved Beauty.

Has it been a smooth road?
The biggest struggle has been self-motivation and self-confidence. When you start out as an entrepreneur, it’s easy to doubt yourself and give lots of freebies to people thinking that you’re not good enough to charge full price. I would start panicking when people asked about prices and torment myself over whether I was worth it or not. Truth: We are WORTH it! As artists we can offer something so wonderful and unique to our clients that they cannot get themselves. We are worth that money, because we pour our heart and soul into what we do. As for self-motivation, obviously it’s easier to sit on the couch watching Netflix rather than working, you just have to get good at balancing work and play.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Beloved Beauty – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Makeup, Eyelash extensions, and Hair. I came up with the name Beloved Beauty because I was inspired by the word ‘beloved’. It’s much deeper than physical beauty, but rather compliments all around beauty. Yes, it’s very important to feel beautiful when you look in the mirror, makeup is fun to accentuate all of your favorite features and disguise those things we don’t like to see. However, women are so much more than high cheekbones and big lips. We are strong and smart and encouraging and bad ass! Beloved beauty is special because it teaches women to feel good on the outside, but also encourages the beauty that burns within them.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
Chicago has the best food on the planet! We are on our own level for standards of food quality. My husband and I recently road tripped across the country, and I forgot that the rest of the country doesn’t have that luxury. We ate a lot of Wendy’s hamburgers.

My least favorite trait of our city, Anyone from Chicago knows, there’s only winter and construction season.
