Today we’d like to introduce you to Sabrina Stempel.
Sabrina, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
After my first child was born I was completely overwhelmed and unprepared. I was so focused on learning and preparing for child labor but not the aftermath. No one prepares you for what it’s really like to have a new baby. Weeks and months went by and I was getting more and more sleep deprived. I read the books, talked to family and friends, and my pediatrician. No one’s advice helped…it actually just confused me more. Finally I reached out to a sleep consultant for help. She taught me so much and after following her guidelines we were ALL sleeping again. The transition from sleep deprivation and cranky baby all day and night, to a completely rested one and happy baby was life-changing. I saw how sleep and lack of sleep impacts and determines our quality of life and well-being.
I was inspired to help families reach the same goal. I want parents to know that they are not alone and that there are sleep consultants out there who can help you. I want parents to get their lives back in order and feel good and rested.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It took time to build up my business and name but it’s been a smooth road. The only struggle is convincing parents that my service is worth every penny.
Baby Sleep Train – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I am a Certified Pediatric Sleep Consultant and the owner and founder of Baby Sleep Train. I teach parents how to establish and maintain healthy sleep habits for their children. I work with age’s newborn to 6 years old. I work with clients all over the world. I meet with local clients in person and long-distant clients over the phone or video chat. There is no such thing as “impossible” or “too late”.
What makes me different from other sleep consultants is that I look for the underlining issue, what may be causing the child’s poor sleep habits or behavior. I look at the child’s environment, health, diet, family, genetics, and so much more. We don’t just let the child “cry-it-out” or “Ferberize”. There is so much more to it! However, IF we need to take one more step and use a “sleep method”, I am familiar and I have worked with all of the different methods. Together with the parents we decide which method best suits their family, lifestyle, and comfort zones. I will never force a parent do anything that they are not comfortable with. I make PRACTICAL, CUSTOMIZED, and PERSONALIZED sleep plans that take both baby and parent into consideration.
I am proud to say that I LOVE my job. Nothing feels better than to get a call from a Dad thanking me for giving him his wife back, a parent thanking me for predictability in their day, giving them an enjoyable baby to be around or telling me that they were finally able to get a sitter and go out for a date. I like turning yawns into smiles. 🙂
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Getting a call from a perspective client saying that her sister overheard a co-worker raving about me and how I changed her life around! Now she wants the same!
Getting an e-mail from a client that her and her husband slept a whole night for the first time in 2 years.
Getting a call that a client went out for the first time in a year!
