Today we’d like to introduce you to Rosalyn Berns and Lena Kogan. International Millennium Consultants was established in 1997 by Lena and Rosalyn.
Lena, Rosalyn – please share your story with us.
We met and became friends many years prior while attending programming course at one of the city colleges. At the time, we were recent immigrants from the former Soviet Union and both were looking for “American Dream” hoping to get US education and find jobs in corporate America.
Our dreams did come true and we both had successful careers in Information Technology.
However, we felt that we could be more accomplished if we could build our own company.
We started with creating L&R Associates (Lena and Rosalyn), the hospitality company that worked with big businesses that were trying to establish their footprint in then new, free Russian economy. In the beginning, the company was wildly successful but the business slowly winded down and we started looking for the new opportunities.
1997 was the year when business was getting increasingly concerned with Y2K and how it would affect their IT applications in the new Millennium. This is when International Millennium Consultants was born. We helped companies with their Y2K remediation by offering solutions developed by IMC consultants in Russia and in the US.
Over the years the company has grown into premier international staffing and consulting firm that has established a reliable market reputation for providing rapid and accurate solutions for their clients. IMC’s primary focus is Technology Staffing; we understand that finding the right technical talent in business is sometimes a difficult process.
IMC supplies expertise in Application Management, Application Design and Development, Solution Architecture and Architecture Planning, Technology Selection and Integration. We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
There is never a smooth road in our line of business. With the fierce competition, constantly changing technology, economic challenges, etc., we can never sit back. But we look at these challenges as opportunities. We succeed by striving to be the best in the industry, building and maintaining the relationships, staying on top of the market and always being personally involved in our day-to-day operations.
The biggest struggle is to find the best talent while staying within our customers’ budget.
We manage doing this without sacrificing the quality of the resources by keeping low margins and overhead.
