Today we’d like to introduce you to Paula Eisen.
Paula, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I am in my 12th year of owning Click. In my previous life I owned a singles club, creating events for singles to meet and mingle. Once I saw the influence of online dating I knew it was time for a change. I grew up in a stylish family of four girls. I’ve always loved fashion and really enjoy bringing life to every outfit. The one thing always missing from our shopping excursions was a boutique that was fun and high energy that carried shoes and clothing that were both fashionable and comfortable. After a few years of getting comfortable in retail and establishing ourselves as a go-to place for shoes we added clothing and upped our accessories to become the one-stop shop we are now.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
There has been plenty of trial and error, lessons learned and there’s always something new to contend with. Being small and local is becoming more challenging. The addition of major stores (brick and mortar and online) are whipping out our neighbors and stripping the charm and warmth out of our beloved neighborhood. Our other big, uncontrollable hurdle has always been Chicago’s unpredictable weather. As the season’s change most of our products are weather dependent. Not being able to predict Chicago winters and warmth has always created some stress. Nonetheless, crossing your fingers, having a can-do attitude and the willingness to think outside the box often saves the day.

Our specialty is comfortable, yet fashionable shoes, at a mid-range price. We’ve also become quite popular for our clothing selection and accessories. Most of our jewelry is all from local artists.

What I am most proud of is that my team and I have created a positive, welcoming environment. It is often easier to see the beauty in others than it is to notice it in ourselves. Here at click we have a talent for finding the most flattering options and bringing out our customer’s personality and their personal style.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
Nothing at all- I feel like you learn from your mistakes always do better the next time.
