Today we’d like to introduce you to Gloria Klischuk.
Thanks for sharing your story with us. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
That is quite a thought-provoking question because it seems like I have been working in my family business for as long as I can remember. It all began when I was a little girl and would assist my father by folding letters and stuffing envelopes for mail outs. My actual career in real estate began at 21 when I simultaneously obtained my real estate sales license and real estate broker license within the same year. I worked part-time in real estate alongside my father while in college. I’m proud to say that I graduated at the top of my class with a Bachelor of Science in Finance from the University of Illinois at Chicago. My desire for helping others to resolve their real estate needs and wants was inspired by my father’s inauspicious beginnings after emigrating from Ukraine and the repressive dictator Josef Stalin.
My father, Joseph Klischuk, was born in Ukraine and at a young age, he was forced to flee the Soviet regime and managed to escape to Europe where he earned a scholarship to the University of Nebraska and graduated with a degree in Economics. His deep sense of gratitude for the opportunity he found in America led him to dedicate his career to helping other Ukrainian immigrants find housing which started in the early 1960’s when he moved to Chicago. After college, I worked full time with my father for many years and subsequently took over the business after his retirement.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
If there is anything that is constant with real estate, it is the periodic ups and downs and volatility of the market. I see the downturns in the market, in particular, the extended one we have recently come out of, as new opportunities for the demand in housing, as many people have been sitting on the fence, so to speak. Also, the slowdowns tend to shake out the weak players in the industry and allow for the agents who persevere to rise to the top. With a solid reputation among our loyal clients, we were able to weather the most recent downturn, largely through referrals. The exciting parts of the real estate business are that almost everyone at some point in their lives will be in the market for purchasing a home and that the real estate market will always recover and get even stronger than before.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Orland Park Realtors – what should we know?
I have 34 years of experience as a real estate broker and I am a member of the National Association of Realtors, Illinois Association of Realtors and the Mainstreet Association of Realtors. Although our main focus is residential sales, Orland Park Realtors also has a commercial division specializing in helping investors locate, purchase, sell and lease commercial properties such as office buildings, industrial and retail spaces. I believe that to excel at anything you have to know your own strengths and develop a vision to maximize your focus on your niche market. You have to continuously concentrate on the needs and desires of your target audience.
At the same time, I utilize the latest technologies available to fully and properly address the specific needs of our valued clients and to provide them with ideas and solutions they may never have thought of or considered. I strive to empower the client with information and knowledge to a point where they can safely and confidently know when the transaction is right for them. I feel that this approach sets us apart from the average broker and is most responsible for our outstanding reviews in social media. We have experienced outstanding feedback, especially from our younger clients who were renters and became happy first time home buyers. There are few sources of greater satisfaction than knowing that your efforts have been instrumental in improving the lives of others on a long-term basis. I am most proud that I have built lifelong connections with many of our clients and often times find ourselves helping the next generation of home buyers. Many of our clients have told us that we treat them as if they were family members. I love helping my clients find their dream home. At the end of the day, handing over the keys at closing & seeing my client’s excitement and gratitude is a truly rewarding experience!
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
I attribute my success to the fact that I genuinely care about each and every client and they know that I am always acting solely in their best interest. I maintain uncompromising standards and a level of integrity by always putting myself in the place of the client. My clients continue to recommend me because of my extensive knowledge of every aspect of the real estate transaction as well as the strong negotiating skills that I’ve developed through experience and first-hand knowledge of the mortgage process which gives me an edge over my competitors and ensures a smooth, stress free transaction from start to finish!
