Meet Monika Grunwald of www.somepopofcolor.com

Today we’d like to introduce you to Monika Grunwald.

Monika, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I started my style blog back in 2014 but I had a slow start and didn’t really get into it with a full commitment until sometime in 2015/2016. It was first and foremost a venue for me to express myself and have a creative space for the artistic side of me. I always appreciated quality photography and could flip through home design or fashion magazines for inspiration for days on end and when I finally created my blog, I could let that part of me out and create my own visual story.

Has it been a smooth road?
The struggle for me is simply finding the time to do it all – create content, organize myself, plan ahead and on top of it weave that all in into my daily life of working full time and being a mom of two. None of that would be possible, and frankly, I don’t think I would even have a blog if it wasn’t for my husband. He is my photographer and biggest fan (I got lucky as he was always interested in photography long before I even had an idea of a blog in my head) and by that, I mean that he never ever complains when I make him take one more photo or even do them for me period.

If anything he encourages me more than I sometimes encourage myself. I can’t imagine that working full time and being a mom, I am then gone all weekend shooting photos away from home and not spending time with my kids. So the fact that he does all of that with me, makes all of this possible. I really do not mean to sound cheesy; it really is so true in our case that without his help, there wouldn’t be any blog.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
My blog is my stylistic journey with an appreciation for color. And while my blog is just about me, my Instagram and Pinterest accounts provide a more in-depth look into what inspires me. That is especially true for Pinterest where I can collect all the big and small inspirations. I could seriously sift through Pinterest images all day! I hope that by now my blog and my brand is known for the color inspiration that I hope I provide to my readers.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
I believe Chicago has so many great things to offer. I follow a few other style bloggers based in Chicago and they provide me with constant inspiration. So, absolutely, Chicago is the place to be!
