Meet Matt Laricy of Americorp Ltd-Matt Laricy Group in River North

Today we’d like to introduce you to Matt Laricy.

Matt, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I am a third generation Realtor. My whole life, my dream was to sell Real Estate. When I graduated college, I was already licensed and started selling. My father’s company was on the South Side of Chicago, so I started there. However, after a few years, I realized, it was not who I was. So I wanted to take the company downtown. This was 2008 now, which was the worst housing economy of all time. I was 23, broke, didn’t know the downtown market at all, didn’t have an office, and no one was buying Real Estate. Not a good start. But I knew if someone else could make it, then so could I. They say you get rich in bad markets, not good ones. I knew I couldn’t get rich in money, but I could get rich in knowledge. I learned everything I could on my own, and handed out business cards to anyone near me. I invested every dollar I had on many different aspects of online advertising. And over time, it paid off. In 2010 I had my best year ever of 5.6 million in sales. Then 10.4 in 2011. Then 18.4 in 2012. Then 39 in 2013. 69 in 2014. 105 in 2015. 125 in 2016. And now, we are looking at over 160 in 2017. The reason we were able to grow so much so fast is we try to stand above the competition. We work hard and offer some innovative technology. We see the bigger picture, and realize it’s not about a sale, but a relationship.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Never once was it smooth. I tried opening an office in Real Estate in 2008. I don’t have to say more there lol. But it was tough. Real Estate is one of the most cut throat competitive industries in the world. You go from high highs, to low lows. In 2010 when my mom died, everything for me clicked. I felt I saw everything, and I remember everything she always taught me. She would say, when it hits, it hits. You have to keep going after it.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Americorp Ltd-Matt Laricy Group – what should we know?
We run a boutique real estate group in downtown Chicago. We specialize in selling Real Estate in the downtown markets. What makes us proud is that we are the # 1 reviewed agent in the city. We have also been growing faster than anyone else. What sets us apart is the fact that we have great branding, we are straight shooters, and we work harder than anyone out there.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Honesty & Knowledge. Most Realtors are just so full of crap. They do not know anything and they just are push sleezy 1980s sales people. We provide the best info and a no BS attitude to back it up.
