Meet Lauren Elliott, Jennifer Gold, and Lindsey Monroe of The Birth Boutique

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lauren Elliott, Jennifer Gold, and Lindsey Monroe.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
As a circle of three mothers with six unique birth stories of our own, The Birth Boutique provides moms and families in the Chicago-land area with personalized, sophisticated & non-judgmental care throughout pregnancy, birth and beyond.

At The Birth Boutique we help inform women of their birth options and then support them in their individual choices (from cesareans to home births and every birth in-between). Our unique, boutique-styled care offers families intimate & personalized care that every family deserves during this life-changing time.

The three of us each have had different birth experiences and we each were exposed to birth growing up differently. But we realized- however you look at it birth can and should be empowering and celebrated. From unmedicated births to cesareans to home birth and VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarean) a woman’s strength to carry, birth and love her child is undeniable.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
We are definitely learning as we go. It’s a huge benefit having the three of us in this together so the rough patches are shared among us. We are hoping for big growth over the next year so there is bound to be some bumps in the road but we’re hopeful that we can achieve the ‘big picture’ vision we have for The Birth Boutique.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
We are kind of obsessed with helping moms and families prepare for pregnancy, birth and post-partum and we are thrilled to support moms and families to help ensure they feel confident throughout the phases of early parenthood. We offer a variety of birth and post-partum doula packages and birth, newborn and family photography, and childbirth education classes. Additionally, we host events throughout Chicago that bring moms and families together as they navigate pregnancy and beyond.

What sets us apart is our sophisticated approach to birth services and our nonjudgmental environment. We know birth and early parenthood is different for everyone and we’ll support the mom and family in their choices.

We are best known for our birth doula support and photography services. Regarding our birth doula services, we spend time with an expecting woman and family prior to her birth to understand her/the family’s thoughts, wishes, preferences and concerns about the birthing process. We talk through the options and choices and help the mom and family prepare for and envision the “birth day.” We help the family navigate the start of labor (“is this really real labor?” …. “I think my water just broke!”) and join them in-person once the active phase of labor has begun. While attending to a laboring woman, we help to provide comfort measures and techniques to ease the pain of labor, emotional support as well as information and knowledge around the birthing process. We stay by the women’s side through the birth of her baby and shortly thereafter to ensure the transition into early motherhood is as smooth as possible.

Pricing:

  • Birth doula support packages start at $1050
  • Post-partum doula support starts at $25/hour
  • Photography packages start at $250
