Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristina Ryon.
Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
I have been a creative my entire life and come from a full family of entrepreneur’s. I was the friend in middle school and high school who always had the camera at parties and events and I would document everything. I knew going into college that photography was my calling in life; I wanted to photograph it all. I don’t just see myself as a photographer. I see myself as a storyteller, someone who freezes time with the press of a button. I photograph emotion and real life. Years from now I want grandchildren to look back at photographs of their parents and grandparents and feel the emotion that was in that moment. There comes a time in life where photographs will be the only thing you will have left and you’ll want to cherish those!
Please tell us about your art.
I primarily photograph weddings and boudoir sessions. It took me a good 6 years to figure out what I really wanted to do. Your wedding day is supposed to be the best day of your life. Who wouldn’t want to document that and all those amazing emotions! Every wedding is different. Some are super joyful while others are hard if a loved one can’t be a part of it and some are full of laughs from start to finish. I get to capture it all on film and as I edit I relive that day and it makes me smile. Aside from weddings, I shoot boudoir. I love making women feel amazing about themselves and I want woman to know that you don’t just have to do a session for your significant other but you can do it for yourself! Self-love is something this world needs more of and it’s my favorite type of session to photograph!
Do you have any advice for other artists? Any lessons you wished you learned earlier?
If I had any advice for other artists as well as upcoming artists I would say you got this! You can do anything you set your mind too! It may take a month or a year or six years like me but don’t stop! Believe in yourself and amazing things will happen!
