Meet Jon Palmen of Go Sports America in Kenosha

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jon Palmen.

Jon, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
After owning a performance sports training business, I wanted to find a way to connect more with athletes and parents as well as give back to support the positive progression of organized sports. The timing was perfect when I had surprisingly won a car raffle in the summer of 2012. I decided to take the cash and use the after-tax amount to start Go Sports America. We are an event based company that focuses on hosting and managing community sports events with a strong after expenses give back component. To date we have given back thousands of dollars to local teams, schools and organizations. We have one strong annual event that hosts 15 plus boys and girls high school basketball teams at the Carthage stadium court the weekend after Christmas every year. This will be our 6th year and it grows every year. The community and our sponsors really support the event well. The fans come out every year regardless of the weather.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It is always hard to start new events and get the momentum to make it an annual event.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Go Sports America – what should we know?
Our Holiday Basketball classic sets us apart from other events because of the dedication of John Lynn our Co-Director. John does an excellent job of preparing the schedule for the venue each year. We bring in the local teams and focus on matchups that are not seen in the regular schedule of the teams. The community loves to see these special matchups on a state of the art college court and arena. Finally, our sponsors make this a reality. So many to mention but All-Star Honda and Doctors of PT have been the core title sponsors over the years.
