Today we’d like to introduce you to Jitka Robinson.
Jitka, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I grew up in the Czech Republic. My grandmother took me to the fields and woods, where she taught me about medicinal herbs, energy work and healthy self-care. She also instilled in me important values that I apply to my coaching and treatments. From my early age, I experienced years of pain and discomfort. However, I refused to give in to a life with limitations. I was constantly searching for a cure. I tried everything “standard medicine” had to offer, yet nothing helped.
In 2001, after a long journey, I finally discovered the powerful connection between mind and body. In connection with this discovery, I began to practice meditation and yoga. I remember so clearly my amazement in noticing how a few sequences of movements, accompanied with meditation and breathing practices, almost instantly increased my energy, clarity of mind and overall joy of life. Only a few simple changes in my daily routine profoundly transformed my well-being.
During my first trip to India in 2006, I discovered Ayurveda. Literally meaning the “Knowledge of Life,” Ayurveda is an ancient practice that works to balance the mind-body connection to strengthen one’s overall well-being. I felt a natural calling to devote myself to studying and sharing with others the wisdom of both Ayurveda and yoga.
I gradually healed myself from a chronic condition by using the resources of Ayurveda and yoga, which taught me about adjusting my diet, lifestyle, movement and thought patterns. Suddenly, there was no longer a need for lifelong medication and surgeries that my doctors told me were unavoidable. I felt full of energy and was relieved of the debilitating pain and discomfort from which I had suffered for decades.
While I was still working an intense corporate job, I felt a need to share what I learned and experienced. In short time, I left my office job, went back to school to study holistic medicine and embarked on an entrepreneurial path.
Having grown from my own personal journey in healing and with a holistic practice over the past decade, I am here today to guide you to a simplified, balanced and energized lifestyle with tools that help lower stress, increase energy, uplift mood, balance weight, promote immunity, fight inflammation and boost vitality. I believe everyone has an opportunity to improve their health and well-being with the right knowledge and a dedication to ideal lifestyle choices.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
In the beginning, not many people knew about Ayurveda. There were also many misconceptions, for example thinking that Ayurveda requires one to eat spicy Indian meals. I still get asked by many of my clients about such myths. Truth is there is no universal requirement. Today, Ayurveda is becoming more accessible. While most still do not know much about Ayurveda, they have at least heard a little bit about its benefits, and they are much more open to it.
When it comes to diet, for example, I work with clients to help them learn about the most suitable meals, ingredients and spices for their unique mind and body type. You do not need to entirely change your diet and eating habits to receive the benefits of Ayurveda. My approach is to help each client find the greatest benefits from Ayurveda with minimum struggle. That means we work as a team to find ideal solutions together when it comes to diet and lifestyle.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Balance by Jitka Robinson story. Tell us more about the business.
I am an Ayurvedic practitioner, Reiki therapist and yoga instructor. I have developed a special expertise in healing chronic stress, headaches, back pain, digestive issues, low energy, sleep disorders, women’s health, anxiety and depression. My services include Ayurveda, holistic nutrition, medicinal herbs, mindfulness, reiki, yoga, meditation, sound therapy, marma therapy, breathing exercises, aromatherapy, imagery and more.
I focus on a holistic path to well-being for individuals, couples and families. Most of my clients are busy professionals. I also provide wellness services to companies. I provide executive mindfulness coaching, meditation sessions, yoga classes, and lunch and learn wellness workshops to release stress, improve focus, enhance productivity and increase the happiness of executives and employees. My clients include Chicago based multinational companies, fast-growing startups and premier coworking communities.
Transparency and honesty are of utmost importance to me in my work. I listen intently to a client’s needs and then employ suitable resources from my holistic toolbox to develop an appropriate healing approach. I strive to educate clients throughout their journey so that they understand all that they do. There are no surprises. I tell my clients, “I am your guide. I will illuminate the path and walk with you on your journey. But, you are the ultimate author of your life.”
My work to improve the well-being of others fills my heart with joy. I feel incredibly grateful to be on this path.
