Meet Holly Hu of Hu’s Assisting in Plainfield

Today we’d like to introduce you to Holly Hu.

Holly, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Growing up, I always felt a strong passion for helping others. I spent my young life working as a nanny, a personal assistant, and a house manager for various families and individuals. After college, I started working as an Executive Assistant to CEO and Presidents of companies. I spent 15+ years in the field and absolutely loved it! As an Executive Assistant, you are the right hand to the owner/CEO of the company. You are taught how to run the company as a whole, since you are assisting this individual with various needs and responsibilities, in the case that they were to lose an employee in a certain department, the executive assistant would be able to step in and help out until a replacement was found. After years of working for someone else, and the invaluable knowledge that I had attained, I decided to open my own company, Hu’s Assisting. I thought to myself, how wonderful would it be… instead of assisting one person, I could assist many and help relieve the stress and workload from their shoulders. Hu’s Assisting started out as an assisting company with many services but have since narrowed it down to the services in which were most popular. I believe that the reason we do so well is that I and my crew genuinely enjoy helping others!

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
All in all, I have been very blessed. As with any business, as a business owner, you will face daily/weekly challenges but nothing that we have not been able to overcome. I honestly believe that I have a guardian angel looking over me.

Hu’s Assisting – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Hu’s Assisting offers Event and Party Planning, Decorating, Design, Day of Coordination and Party Helpers. What we are best known for, is our eye for detail. No two parties are the same so they should never be treated as ‘the same”. Every party or event that myself or a crew member walks into, is custom treated. We service the client to his or her individual needs and wants. We are far from a cookie cutter business, so each quote and package that is created is created specifically for that person. I would never want someone to feel that our services are out of reach. I started this business because it is a passion of mine, keeping that in mind, I strive to work within almost any budget.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
The proudest moment of my career is not just a single moment but it is every time that I leave a client’s party, house or event and I look over and see the happiness on their face. Knowing how appreciated I was in helping make their day a little less stressful, a little bit more memorable and a whole lot more fun… those are the moments that have made me the proudest. Each time, a client compliments me on a wonderful job, or a simple “Thank You” “for they couldn’t have done it without me”, those are the times that make it all worth it. Those time, are instant gratification and reassures me, once again, on why I started this business.
