Meet Hannah Wolf of AIR® Aerial Fitness and MudbuM Facial Bar

Today we’d like to introduce you to Hannah Wolf.

Hannah, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I have always been an active person – keeping myself busy mentally, socially, and physically my entire childhood. I was a competitive gymnast and dancer and eventually graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Dance from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. I felt healthy, happy, and energized until my early college years when I started to feel extremely ill and fatigued every day. I struggled to get through the long days in dance classes, nightly rehearsals, and performances and felt like a zombie going through the motions of my life.

Post-college, and still feeling as sick as ever, I moved to Chicago and was introduced to AIR® Aerial Fitness. After getting my butt kicked at my first class, I was determined to feel like my young, strong self again so that I could attend these classes regularly and master the beautiful aerial poses that all of the other students were doing. I worked with many doctors and was finally diagnosed with Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis. I learned to control the disease with medication, diet, and exercise at AIR® and quickly regained some of my strength and energy.

Within 2 years of my first AIR® class I became a certified aerial instructor and in less than 3 years I quit my corporate job and became the owner of AIR® South Loop. Since then, I have also acquired AIR® River North and MudbuM River North studios. I specifically wanted to open an AIR® studio because I felt challenged by the combination of cardio, strength training, stretching, and fun tricks that reminded me of my dancing days. I loved that I would be able to provide access to such an interesting workout that most people would not even think to try and that would inspire others to maintain their health like it did for me.

And lastly, I felt welcomed by this community of fun, strong, and inspiring women and couldn’t wait to be a bigger part of it. I am so grateful to be able to say that I have fulfilled a lifelong dream of owning my own studio and have a job that I truly love.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Besides my health struggles, it has been a very smooth road becoming a franchisee. Pre-AIR®, I was fortunate enough to gain customer service, retail, human resources, marketing, and general business experience which has been so helpful in addition to my experience as a dancer, gymnast, and instructor. There have been a few small hurdles here and there and my life is crazy busy now, but I have learned and grown so much in just this one short year!

AIR® Aerial Fitness (River North and South Loop) and MudbuM Facial Bar (River North) – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
AIR® is recognized as the nation’s leading aerial fitness training method. Designed for all levels, it strengthens the core and tones your physique in record-breaking time. Besides our regularly scheduled aerial fitness and aerial yoga classes, we host private birthday parties, bachelorette parties, and corporate events! They become really fun when paired with our sister company, MudbuM facial bar!

Daily exposure to bacteria, the environment, your diet and hormones leave your face heavy + dirty. We at MudbuM believe that the solution to brighter, more youthful skin is through shorter facials, more often.

AIR® and MudbuM were founded by Shama Patel who left her career as a corporate attorney in Chicago to follow her dream of starting these companies that would revolutionize fitness + skincare. There are now numerous AIR® and MudbuM locations across the country.

I am personally proud of the community we’ve built throughout the nation – check out our famous #airpow hashtag on Instagram to see for yourself!

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
In order for me to live a successful life, I need good health and happiness. Happiness is a broad category which for me includes my marriage, family, friends, work, money, etc. Good health gets its own category because I have learned over the years that without it I cannot keep up with the many elements that make up my happiness.

In terms of owning a successful business, I need to see that my clients are inspired to be healthy, they are enjoying their services, and my community is continuously growing.
