Meet David Gaffke of Complete Bridal

Today we’d like to introduce you to David Gaffke.

For 31 years David has been making wedding dreams come true. He is one of the first to create a National Disaster Fund to replace Bridal Gowns lost in any type of National Disaster… Also, the first to provide 40 plus brides new gowns who lost their gown in the Eva’s Bridal Fire 2010 and the fire at VIP Bridal in Elmhurst… David is also the fashion designer that created the Chicago Bears, Sox, Cub’s, Bull’s and Blackhawks wedding gowns. His dresses have also been pictured with Mayor Daley and Jerry Reinsdorf. In 2014, he made his major television debut with FYI’s Best in Bridal.

His Reality Show, Best in Bridal follows two Illinois-based bridal shops, with two very different approaches, as former friends strive to outwit and out-sell each other in the exciting, and sometimes glamorous, world of bridal retail.

Dave runs Complete Bridal; a successful salon owned and curated by him and his all-male team. Down the street is Shelley’s Bridal Couture, an all-female, more traditional and no nonsense boutique managed by Shelley Murray, Dave’s competitor and former boss. With an explosive rivalry between the two shops, viewers will see Dave, Shelley and their teams stop at nothing to be the best in town.

Currently David has created his own collection of wedding dresses and has submitted his new collection of wedding gowns to the Shark-Tank producers…

His store only has 3 dressing rooms and manage to work with 400 plus future brides every year. His all male staffed bridal salon is the only one of its kind in the world, making Complete Bridal a destination location….

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
We have our share of issues… Most being when girls gaining weight and the dress no longer fitting! Also, the fact that girls are waiting longer to order. All manufactures require 5.5 months for delivery… When a bride is looking 6 months out from her wedding it makes it challenging to get the dress in time. challenge.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Complete Bridal story. Tell us more about the business.
We’re the only all male staffed bridal salon in the world!!!!

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
The lord is with me every day and we’ve been extremely lucky. Currently we’re up 3 times what we did last year and last year was our best year.

David is great! When the designer didn’t send my dress, not sure if they lost my order but david stayed late for me one night and picked 5 dresses and was hard to pick one. The ones I thought I liked he told me why I shouldn’t wear it. The most expensive one was the one I purchased and he told me why I should buy it. Wasn’t sure about it but after going back for fittings fell in love with the dress. Being mother of the groom, you have to look great. The nicest thing he did he gave me the price I paid for the other dress which was a lot less which he didn’t have to do. It wasn’t his fault the designer lost order but I really appreciated for what he did. This was 3 months before the wedding and all worked out. He helped me decide which jewelry and shoes to go with. I purchased different shoes and jewelry pieces and it all came together. I wish I found you for my daughters wedding the year before. Miss coming in talking to you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart I got so many complements with everything. Couldn’t have done it without you, you are honest and great to work with
