Meet Cortri Trotter of Cortri Trotter Productions

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cortri Trotter.

Cortri, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
My story begins on the South Side of Chicago. I was the youngest of 3 children. Growing up on the South Side and being the youngest I had to find creative ways to stay above the challenges of living in the inner city. I was known by my parents to have a very active imagination. That imagination stayed with me through adulthood, and has carried me to many places. I studied Communications, Media Arts and Theatre at Chicago State University. My fellow CMAT students and I formed a Theatre Troupe (CSU Theatre) under the tutelage of Arthur M. Reese. As a member of this Theatre Troupe, we wrote and produced our own productions. Many of those productions toured across the country. We planned and executed each show from start to finish.

As well as being a performing member, one of my responsibilities was branding and marketing. Our branding and marketing campaigns sold out 90% of our performances.

Upon finishing my education, I was invited to work with Whitehorse Productions in New York City. Where I was trained in animation and video production for commercial use. We executed many successful campaigns for the NBA, NFL, MBA and Country Music Labels. The expertise gained there was very valuable for me.

It was with these talents and years of experience that I began Cortri Trotter Productions in 2011. Some of our past and present clients include Mielle Organics, Hoop Legend, Lifetime, Bravo, 103 Collection and Harold’s Chicken just to name a few. We are Event Planners, Graphic Designers, Video Editors and Branding Specialists with special emphasis on Pre and Post Press Production.

Our 3 time run of Tainted Goodes, the Stageplay raised money for South Side youth to attend college. With runs of this show donating 100% of the proceeds to this effort. We also work with community organizations such as We R Englewood for their Annual Englewood Back 2 School Parade as well the Annual John Lomax Bookbag Giveaway, helping to ensure that children from our neighborhoods have the supplies they need to start school every year.

Our mission is to help build brands large and small, providing them with the tools they need for customer engagement with promotional items.

I want to make my parents and neighborhood proud and show others that you can dream as big as you want despite where you come from. Yet and still I’ll always be a proud son of Englewood.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road to success will never be a smooth one. As an entrepreneur, I have to overcome new challenges every day. People are passionate about their visions and it’s my job to bring those visions to fruition, in some cases by any means necessary. Engaging so many different personalities has definitely given me a patience that passes all understanding, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Cortri Trotter Productions – what should we know?
What I am most proud of is my reception by so many visionaries across the Country. I don’t take any client for granted and I’m grateful that my passion for their visions never goes unnoticed by each and every individual that I touch. This is what I believe sets us apart from the rest, a genuine interest to see my clients WIN!

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
The most important characteristic for anyone in business or who plans on being successful is integrity.
