Meet Chelsea Gaetani of Rise & Wine Yoga in Logan Square

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chelsea Gaetani.

Chelsea, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
It sold out at Your Happy Place Liquors! I thought it was going to be a one-time deal. Something fun to host at a local retailer. We had an amazing turn-out and it was successful. They booked me again! “Okay, this could be a monthly gig,” I thought. Before I knew it, I had a logo, a mantra, a mission, and a beautiful website. I utilized social media and my contacts in the Chicago yoga and wine industries. People wanted to book me or partner with me! The universe was delivering. I was deserving. I stepped out from under the dark cloud that had been following me for some time in the “moving to Chicago and not being able to find a job world” and started working really hard on my own project. I focused on marketing and now, a new business with at least 3 events a month.

My mission statement:
Rise & Wine Yoga is committed to supporting local small business including but not limited to distributors, retailers, healers, and gyms in Chicago. I believe that yoga is social and strive to curate pop-up yoga and wine tasting experiences that will heighten the senses after an invigorating flow. All parties will benefit whether it be from yoga, sales, or gaining clientele. Good karma for all. What comes around, goes around.

I want to give people 1 hour of thoughtfully sequenced yoga that leaves them relaxed yet invigorated and 1 hour of a unique wine tasting that pairs well with hand-picked cheeses and chocolates. Pure bliss, zen, self-love, a way to treat yourself in this chaotic world. There is something great here. My response has proven it so far. It warms my heart that for maybe even 2 hours I can make someone else’s day. An oasis on your mat. Good karma for all!

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
So far, so good. I learn more and more from each event and make improvements on what works well and what doesn’t.

Please tell us about Rise & Wine Yoga.
Rise & Wine Yoga is a two-hour, two-part event starting with vinyasa yoga (breath-to-movement) adding meditation (dhyana), core work, breathwork (pranayama), humor, essential oils (Ayurveda), and a quirky playlist. The yoga class is designed for all levels and body types and always provides a warm welcome to all spirits. After yoga, take a seat on your mat for a guided wine tasting by a local wine distributor. Artisan wines have been hand-selected and paired with small bites. All wines are available for purchase and will be ready for pick-up at a local retailer within the following week if they aren’t already in stock.

There is never shipping fees which set us a side from other wine-tasting programs where you can order wine.

Yoga and wine is blowing up as a trendy event to attend in every city, I’m not going to ignore that fact and claim that I have a new idea. What makes my event unique is the fact that after yoga, event participants get to experience wine by trying multiple varietals and learn about each one more in-depth like being at a winery. Participants get an educational experience unlike any other from a local wine expert! There is also the pairing factor that goes with each wine selection which is a perk and additive that sets my event apart from other wine and yoga events. This roots back to my passion for working in the wine industry, particularly behind a wine bar, and educating guests on what they are tasting and what to order for a great pairing option.

What is your favorite childhood memory?
Fishing with my dad and making tomahawks with quartz crystals in the forest. I was a tomboy when I was little and enjoyed spending time in the woods or by the pond. Whenever I wasn’t at school, I remember pretending I used to live off the land and would literally collect acorns and leaves and make little stashes! Ha!

  • I typically charge $25 for 1 hour of yoga and the wine pairings.
