Meet Carrie Grucz of Groove is in the Heart DJs

Today we’d like to introduce you to Carrie Grucz.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Carrie. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I started DJing at the Fireside, back when they had all ages punk shows. I remember seeing mostly guys manning the turntables, and thinking I could totally do this! I got a quick lesson from a friend, and started DJing with vinyl at bars and parties around town for fun. About 7 years ago, I started Djing weddings through another company and fell in love with it! Getting to work with couples to create the soundtrack to the biggest party of their lives was such an honor and such a creative challenge. Music has the power to shift moods, bring people together, and to tell a story. I am lucky enough to get to be a part of making that all happen!

Has it been a smooth road?
This company is very new, and I might be a little bit insane to start a business on my own. But my goal for now is to just get the name out there, so that people can see what I’m doing. I want to share my experience with over 300 weddings to help guide couples through the crazy process of planning a wedding and creating a personalized playlist to make their wedding day amazing.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Groove is in the Heart DJs story. Tell us more about the business.
Groove is in the Heart is a female owned and operated business. From the very beginning when my couples reach out to me, I am involved in their planning process to help them think about a timeline of events, and how to incorporate songs into each important moment. I work closely with each of my clients to get to know them and their taste so I can curate a perfectly timed playlist, and an amazing dance party that doesn’t resort to any gimmicks or line dances. It’s my passion for music, and my love of working with my couples that sets me apart.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I think people getting married are looking for a personalized experience. Planning a wedding is hugely stressful! I think couples appreciate someone who really cares about their taste and personality, and woks with them throughout the whole process to create a unique thoughtfully curated and well executed wedding.
