Meet Bernadetta Zawiejska of Bernadetta Photography

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bernadetta Zawiejska.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Choosing photography as a main focus in my career was an organic way of transferring from fine art (oil painting) and graphic design field. I loved to photograph since I was 15, however it was while studying graphic design and taking photography classes, I started to think about photography as career choice.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
One of the most challenging things form the very beginning of my photography business, was shifting between being an artist and business person. Understanding the business side of photography is one of the most important thing to run your own business. As an artist I tend to submerge myself in creative process of photography and omit business side of it. Witch amount of photographs shared on social media, it is getting harder to be seen. And although helpful, talent is not always an indication of a success.

Please tell us about Bernadetta Photography.
Bernadetta Photography offers professional portraiture photography service in Chicago and surrounding suburbs. I specialize in personal and family portraiture, headshots and engagement.

I am influenced by the old masters in painting. My extensive background in oil paintings and graphic design enables me to transfer knowledge of color theory and composition into a digital photography. That also helps me and makes me capable of creating original digital artwork for my clients.

My main goal is to convey beauty and reality in my work with a touch of a painterly style whenever applicable. Especially, when I work on portraits and engagement projects. I strive to capture the emotional level of the work and create memorable moments to cherish. I celebrate everything about my clients and always aim to create an artwork that will be treasured for years to come.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I would take business and marketing courses.
