Meet Ben Silverman of Evanston

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ben Silverman.

Ben, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I’ve always been interested in photography and film. I got into filmmaking after seeing the movie Inception. I mainly started doing photography and film in middle school and now I’m a senior in high school at Evanston Township High School. More recently I have focused more on film projects. I primarily make videos for myself but I’ve also done projects for others. This summer I was able to be a video intern at Torque, a digital marketing agency in Chicago.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
One major struggle is that I’ve had to mainly self-teach myself photography and filmmaking. Also, equipment can sometimes be really expensive. However, I’ve gotten around this by making a lot of my own equipment in the past.

Ben Silverman – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I’m happy to help people with photography, video production, and I also have helped people build squarespace sites. If you’re looking for a freelancer who is less expensive (as a high school student) I’m a good fit.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
My proudest moment was sharing the video I made for my high school’s basketball team. It is definitely my best video to date and it went viral in the community. Countless people told me how much they loved the video. You can watch it here:
