Meet Amy Lee of ENRGi Fitness in River North

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amy Lee.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Amy. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I launched ENRGi Fitness in April 2009 under the name TEAMiFIT. Our programs began as outdoor bootcamps at numerous parks around Chicago. At the time, I was an elementary school teacher & part-time fitness instructor. I launched TEAMiFIT with the intention of it being part-time in combination with teaching. After running our first online deal, we went from 20 to 500 clients overnight and I was forced to quit my teaching job. Our bootcamps were so successful that we opened an indoor location in September 2009 with 2 workout studios. Within a year, we reached capacity and added a 3rd workout studio. Within 4 years, we moved to another location that was double the size of our first location.

Our business foundation is the product of patience, trial & error, perseverance, passion, and determination. After 8 years of sleepless nights trying to come up with the closest thing to perfection, we are finally ready to expand our model to more locations!

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
My entrepreneurship journey has been one of the most challenging yet rewarding experiences of my life! I don’t think any degree could ever prepare me for entrepreneurship. Since I had zero business experience prior to ENRGi, I’ve had to learn almost everything the hard way… and I wouldn’t have it any other way! I started ENRGi with a passion for fitness and helping others. I quickly learned that passion itself wasn’t enough. Once I realized that perseverance is the fuel and passion is the driving force, I became unstoppable! These two ingredients keep me grounded on a daily basis.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the ENRGi Fitness story. Tell us more about the business.
Burn calories, build muscle and boost recovery with our 3-step process: workout. recover. repeat.

WORKOUT: We offer 30, 45, and 60-minute classes designed for all levels of fitness. Our fitness playground includes monkey bars, tires, battle ropes, ski ergs, treadmills, air bikes, suspension trainers, Bulgarian bags, slam balls, rowers, kettlebells, and so much more!

RECOVER: Since we believe that recovery is equally as important as working out, we offer active and restorative recovery classes to complement our workout classes. And for those who want to recover without doing any of the work, our normatec® sessions are a great passive recovery option too!

REPEAT: Our workout classes + recover classes and normatec® sessions = the perfect balance to feel ENRGiZED, recover faster, and get lasting results. All you need to do is workout and recover at least 3 times per week and repeat weekly!

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
Maybe a little? Passion and perseverance are my lucky charms!
