Meet Amanda Munsen of Studio 25 Art Creations

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amanda Munsen.

Amanda, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
There was always something that I loved about art, teaching, and my hometown of Fox Lake. I focused my area of study in the arts, but on a slightly different path when I went to college. 3 years after graduation (with a few twists and turns), I find myself back in my hometown doing something I absolutely love. In May of 2016 when I first thought of starting this business, I had no idea where it would lead. I traveled for my first few paint parties and after a couple of months it took off. By September, we decided to move forward with a permanent location.

Shortly after, we opened our doors at the beginning of November. (Side note: I tend to say “we” a lot. I say ‘we’ because I truly could have never done this without my parents, family, and friends. They were all there from the moment we started painting my building to constantly spreading the word on social media platforms to helping me at town events… thank you. You know who you all are.) I digress, though. Throughout this first year of entrepreneurship, there have been ups and downs and a lot of learning.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, of course not. As I’m sure most entrepreneurs encounter. In fact, I’m still learning something new every single day for my business. I think one of our hardest struggles was to learn to no not stretch ourselves too thin, too fast. Being a new company, we tried to please everyone and tried to offer classes for every age group right off the bat.

Please tell us about Studio 25 Art Creations.
Studio 25 is an art studio that is most known for hosting public and private paint parties. This can be for any age group, specially tailored to the very popular BYOB Paint & Sip nights for adults. We also just introduced two new classes, which we are very excited to announce! We now have Wood Decor Workshops and monthly Family Nights!

I believe what sets us apart from others is our family atmosphere and small town feel. We want everyone to feel at home in our studio, so they feel comfortable to express themselves and create. The best feeling in the world is getting ‘new artists’ in these public classes because 8 out of 10 times you can tell they are unsure of themselves at first. But once we give the proper guidelines and encouragement, they realize that they just created a piece of artwork in a mere 2.5 hours.

They have the most proud faces on and to know that we just introduced art into their lives in a positive light, means the world.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
I’ve found that keeping a smile on and a positive attitude is key. There are a lot of bumps in the road that sometimes you don’t see coming, and in order to continue to get back up, move forward, and grow… you need to be your best motivator.

I also feel that the motivation to continue to learn is a huge part of being successful. I will always want to continue to learn all ways of social media platforms, or new teaching techniques, marketing, etc. In order to feel confident that I am doing the best for my business, myself, and my family.

  • we are generally around $20-$50 depending on what class and project
