Life and Work with Oksana Kushitska

Today we’d like to introduce you to Oksana Kushitska.

Oksana, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I started by watching YouTube videos and then took a course to get certified as a lash artist. After that, I started practicing on close family and friends to get more experience while building up quality before taking on actual clients. Then, little by little, the word of my work quality spread between my friends’ circles and I ended up with more personal clients. After doing it for a while, I decided to pursue more since I found out I need a license to open my own business and went to school to become a Licensed Esthetician. Now, I am trying to expand into more than just lashes – which is my passion – to such things as European facial, chemical exfoliation and microdermabrasion etc. One step at a time.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It is far from smooth. They should expect that it takes a while for you to have enough clients to make it worthwhile. And clients will fall off, but at the same time, you will get new ones. Don’t despair if it goes slow. It takes time to ramp up. Be persistent and be passionate about quality. Because quality is what will make your clients YOURS.

Please tell us about DLuxe Lashes.
Lashes or more specifically individual lash extensions. This is what I want my brand to stand for. High quality, individual-based eyelash extensions. There’s more to them than just slapping synthetic or mink or silk fibers onto lashes. Each client is unique, not everything works for everyone and people have different expectations and wants. I believe I achieve the best result for each individual client based on what works for them and what they want. I strive to make each client happy and feel more confident about how beautiful they are. Because we are all beautiful I just help them realize it a little more.

Are there any apps, books, podcasts or other resources that you’ve benefited from using?
Practice makes perfect, but if you like somebody else’s work and they have videos of it – watch how they do it. There’s also a lot of videos on how to perfect your work as well. Never stop improving.
