Art & Life with Zack Kravits

Today we’d like to introduce you to Zack Kravits.

Zack, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
I started without realizing it was art. I was a personal trainer in the fitness industry and watched YouTube on a daily basis. I wanted to become a fitness YouTuber. After making several really bad videos, I became frustrated with the quality and pretending to be someone that I wasn’t. Instead, I became obsessed with making my next video better than the last and became more passionate about filmmaking than fitness. I dropped fitness and became a full-time filmmaker creating short films and vlogs about my life on YouTube.

Can you give our readers some background on your art?
I create short films for brands, influencers, and passion projects that I post on YouTube. I mainly post vlogs about my journey. The inspiration for starting these vlogs came from seeing kids and younger adults, trying to figure out what to do with their life. At the time I started, I was also lost and wanted to share my journey to help be a support system and give others the courage to accomplish their passions and dreams.

Do you think conditions are generally improving for artists? What more can cities and communities do to improve conditions for artists?
It has never been easier to become a successful artist. With social media and smartphones, anyone can create art and use different platforms to spread their message. Cities like Chicago can shine light on small creators by showing casing their work and sharing their importance.

What’s the best way for someone to check out your work and provide support?
People can subscribe to my youtube channel, or follow me on Instagram @zackkravits. I also have an online cinematography course helping filmmakers at a beginner to moderate level, develop their skills, get more clients, and/or help them transition from a 9-5 to a full-time creative. If you’re interested in becoming a full-time filmmaker, feel free to send me a DM on Instagram or email me at
