An Artistic Voyage: exploring local creative and artistic works

Raw, unfiltered creative expression – from stories and photographs to illustrations and paintings – is at the heart of VoyageChicago.    In the coming weeks you’ll find in-depth conversations with many of the artists and creatives we’ve been introduced to lately, but below you’ll find a sneak peak of some of the art and artists that we’ve been most excited about recently.

Just a lucid account of what happened last night.

#tbt to my first photo pass! It was April of 2015 and @okgo took a chance on me and I experienced the designated area called a photo pit for the first time. The night was already special enough that we were surprised by the band allowing the photographers to shoot the whole show even though we were told by PR it was the standard first three songs. But on top of that, OK Go came back out for their encore and reenacted the choreography in their music video for “A Million Ways.” Let me tell you why all this means so much to me: this band has a uniquely special place in my heart because a very musically and all around talented friend of mine who passed away in 2011 was influenced by this band. We’ve gone to their show together back when they’d play gigs at Logan Square Auditorium. Back when they had a contest for “A Million Ways,” he and some friends made a submission. It’s still up on YouTube and it’s a fond memory to watch once in a while. So anyway, I guess there’ll always be “A Million Ways” my photography career could’ve gotten started, but this was hands down the most incredible and meaningful way for me ✨ This photo is dedicated to Matt Orland

Look who is coming back this morning for his cake smash! Baby Asher is already one. They do grow way too fast, don't they? I am so excited to see him and his big brother, who was also one of my newborns. Katherine Swygert ————————————– Now booking sessions through March 2019. Limited availability. Home improvement photo #3. I’m learning how to care for these succulents {I’ll admit that I already killed one. Hence the one empty glass vase}. But the good news is, I just got too excited and overwatered so I can fix that! I made my own terrariums for the succulents from all the beautiful flower vases people sent us {swipe right to see said flowers}. Love this hanging desk from @ikeausa and plants from @traderjoes, @homedepot, and Hinsdale Flower shop. #newbornphotographer #lemonadeandlenses #betterhomesandgardens #homeimprovement #plantmom #succulents #infertility #miscarriage #chicago #chicagophotographer #chicagophotography #illinoisphotography #illinoisphotographer #wheaton #diy #homediy #whitehomedecor #plants #decor #homedecor
